Update December 29, 2021, 11:30PM: Many players have asked if the tournament will still be held given the forecast of snow on January 1. As they say, the show must go on! Please drive safely, give yourself plenty of time, even double the time needed to drive to the tournament site. We plan on starting at 9:30AM for Round 1. —- This tournament will NOT be canceled.

New Year Madness 2022

Date: One Day – Saturday, January 1, 2022

Where: Hilton Garden Inn Olathe – 12080 South Strang Line Road, Olathe, Kansas, 66062

Format: 5 Double-Swiss – Game/30 with 5 second delay (Dual-Rated) – 1 section – each round players play both white and black against the same opponent.

Schedule: Saturday: Registration 8AM-9AM, Rd 1 – 9:30AM; Lunch Break: 11:30AM;

**Rd 2-4 will run ASAP, starting at 12PM; Dinner Break: 6PM; Rd 5 – 7PM.

Bye: 1 Half-point bye is offered for any round, if requested before the start of round 2.  

Registration: $25 by December 29, 2021 via online entry at https://www.acerook.com/register?event=nymad2022 ; $30 late/on-site entry.

Prizes: Prizes (if any) including Class prizes (if any) depends on entries. Example may include: Top 2 prize in 3 groups-based ratings, the youngest and oldest player of the tournament, biggest upset overall and/or per round, etc.

Equipment: Please bring boards, sets and clocks to the event. Limited Acerook Chess Enterprises’ equipment will be available to loan per round basis.

COVID Protocols: ACE Tournaments will follow any business, county, state or federal health mandates in effect during the tournament period. All players and staff will be required to follow these mandates, if any. Up-to-date information will be posted on the tournament website, including any health mandates or cancellation of the tournament.

As of November 2, 2021, there is no health mandates or restrictions on mass gatherings for Johnson County, KS.
